Let G1 and G2 be vertex disjoint connected graphs such that each edge of G1 and G2 is a triangle edge. In this paper, the coefficients of the Wiener polynomial of the tensor product G1G2 are determined in terms of the coefficients of W(G1;x) and W(G2;x). The Wiener polynomial of the tensor product of a path graph and an odd cycle graph is also obtained.

Sura H. Al-Fakhry; Huda Y. Al-Attar

Rafidain Journal of Science, 2006, Volume 17, Issue 1, Pages 1-4
DOI: 10.33899/rjs.2006.43257

Normally pregnancy especially at late gestation associated with metabolic changes, like changes in maternal storage of adipose tissue, hormonal secretions and lipoproteins concentrations. Cholesterol level is one of these maternal modifications during pregnancy, this maternal adaptation is to ensure fetal growth. 131 pregnant women aged (20- more than 40) years were chosen randomly, to estimate their fasting blood cholesterol every month of gestation. Total cholesterol was determined by colorimetric method which depends on extracting cholesterol by ethyl alcohol and producing coloured compound, which measured by spectrophotometer.
Elevation of blood total cholesterol was noticed during pregnancy. This increase of total cholesterol started from 3rd month up to term.

A New Method for the Synthesis of Some 1,5-Diphenyl-3- Aryl-4,5-Dihydro-1,2,4-Triazole

Said A. Said

Rafidain Journal of Science, 2006, Volume 17, Issue 1, Pages 5-10
DOI: 10.33899/rjs.2006.43260

Condensation of aromatic aldehydes with benzamide affords the corresponding arylidenbenzamide as a new conjugated system . The reaction between these compounds and phenylhydrazine in acidic medium gives the corresponding triazoles.
The new synthesised compounds are characterized by using physical and spectrometric methods .

Rafidain Journal of Science, 2006, Volume 17, Issue 1, Pages 11-18
DOI: 10.33899/rjs.2006.43262

New bimetallic complexes of the types[M2LCl4],[M2L(en)2Cl4], [M2L(en)2(TP)4], where M=Co(II),Ni(II),Cu(II) and Zn(II), TP =p-aminophenylthiolate were prepared by reacting metal chloride with the ligands 1,1,2,2-tetrakis(p-aminophenylthio)ethylene (L), ethylenediamine (en) and in some case with sodium p-aminophenylthiolate.
The aryl thioether ligand together with the complexes have been characterized on the basis of microanalysis (N and M), infrared spectra, electronic spectra, magnetic and conductivity measurements.

Mineralogy and Petrography of Marl Sediments Within the Fat`ha Formation in Selected Parts of Northern Iraq

Zeki A. Aljubouri; Hazim A. Al-Kawaz

Rafidain Journal of Science, 2006, Volume 17, Issue 1, Pages 19-31
DOI: 10.33899/rjs.2006.43263

X-ray diffraction analyses and petrographic study of marl samples belonging to the Al-Fat`ha Formation (Middle Miocene) from four selected localities in northern Iraq, revealed the presence of the minerals, carbonates (calcite and dolomite), quartz, plagioclase feldspars and the clay minerals illite, chlorite, kaolinite and montmorillonite. The origin and diagenesis of the non clay and clay minerals are discussed. Clay minerals, fossil contents and associated evaporite sediments revealed that the environment of deposition of marl sediments at the studied localities were hyper-saline and semi-arid marine lagoonal environment.

Maha A. AL-Hasson; Amer D. Nader

Rafidain Journal of Science, 2006, Volume 17, Issue 1, Pages 32-37
DOI: 10.33899/rjs.2006.43264

A distinctive form of insertae sedis cyst is described in detail from samples of Ora, Harur Formations and Unit A in boreholes Kh5/1 and Khleisia-1. It constitute the monotypic base for new genus Angelucysta (type species A mosuliana). The form is associated with spore suite that is clearly representative of Early Carboniferous (Dinantian), so that it is considered as an index fossil for this age.

New Hybrid CG-Projected Bfgs for Minimization

Osama H. Ta; Abbas Y. AL Bayati

Rafidain Journal of Science, 2006, Volume 17, Issue 1, Pages 38-49
DOI: 10.33899/rjs.2006.43265

In this paper an hybrid CG direction and a modified direction of the Storey's projected version of the BFGS Quasi-Newton (QN) update of optimization is investigated theoretically and experimentally.
The new proposed algorithm is compared with. Storey's projected BFGS method on a large number of standard test functions with dimensionality varies between 4 n 1000. The new algorithm is found to be superior to the Storey's projected BFGS method overall but it showed a considerable superiority on some of test functions.

A Parallel Optimization Method Based on the Theory of Parallel Subspaces

Khalil K. Abbo; Bashir M. Khalaf

Rafidain Journal of Science, 2006, Volume 17, Issue 1, Pages 50-58
DOI: 10.33899/rjs.2006.43270

The purpose of this paper is to develop a parallel algorithm for solving unconstrained optimization problems. This parallel algorithm in which several tasks may be executed at the same time in parallel based on the parallel subspaces theorem and it's designed to run on MIMD computing systems.

Nada F. Hassen; Abbas Y. Al Bayati

Rafidain Journal of Science, 2006, Volume 17, Issue 1, Pages 59-66
DOI: 10.33899/rjs.2006.43272

In this paper a new sampling three-term preconditioned PB algorithm is developed and implemented.
The proposed sampling algorithm runs parallel to the original PCG Method Once a pair {vk, yk} has been computed by the PCG Method the new sampling algorithm examines the search direction and decides the suitable selected search direction for the proposed algorithm. Numerical results have been done for (50) well-known test functions with different dimensions. The new proposed algorithm is very effective and promising in general
